A Year?

Wow, time sure does fly when your having "fun". Fun in this case means that you are so busy that you hardly have time to breathe! Overall we have moved twice, tried to sell a house, been in two car accidents, both returned to full-time education status, and had a third child. So after a year of neglect here is an update on our family.

Trevor: Shortly after arriving here to start a PhD program Trevor was hit by a University truck and received a concussion. He was life-flighted by helicopter to Topeka and still is missing some memories of the event. The universe in its funny way was saying something like "welcome to Kansas!" or maybe something like "you don't need a brain for a PhD program!" or "Wear a helmet. Schmuck." Despite the early trauma, Trevor is healed and excelling in his program. Trevor is also providing trainings for human service professionals, is a graduate research assistant, and is publishing peer-reviewed articles so he is marketable for a tenure track position after he graduates. Trevor was also rear-ended while driving the Jeep...it was totaled.

Karen: Karen continued doing improv comedy after moving to Kansas. She just switched venues. She performs periodically at Comedy City in downtown Kansas City. Karen was also very glad to have Trevor still be alive after his accident. This led to baby number three. Karen spent most of this year being pregnant and just recently delivered Laney (Elaine) Ann Manthey, 8lbs 1oz, 201/2inches, and two big dimples (in her face). Karen is completing coursework online to finish her bachelors degree. Karen also often volunteers at a soup kitchen downtown and wears the many other hats required of a mother of three children. She doesn't like Kansas much (because of the humidity, the lack of mountains, and the chiggers)and is thankful that summer is over.

Jordyn: School has been fun for Jordyn this year. She is very social and comes home talking about the drama that occurs in second grade. Jordyn continues to be incredibly creative and took several arts and drama classes at the Lawrence Arts Center over the summer. She still has a heart of gold and is really sensitive. She loves being a big sister to Laney and prays for her often. She's still unsure about Evan.

Evan: He is two. Evan definitely knows what he wants and lets others know what it is. He also is a cuddle-bug and likes to spend time in your lap. He's unsure of Laney...

Laney: Eats and Sleeps and Poops. Laney could care less about anyone but mom.
